The Long Winters- Ultimatum (mp3)
On my rainy walk home through the crisp October air last night, with my ipod riffling through a shuffle of new songs, one track came on and fit beautifully. This song was meant for the autumn, which is underscored by the EP’s very own cover art. Many thanks to Concert Josh and Indie Don’t Dance for the recommendation.
I’ll definitely be tracking down this EP (just released Tuesday on Barsuk) and eventually their acclaimed 2003 “When I Pretend To Fall.”

hooray long winters! great, great band. though i do miss sean's backup vocals/keyboards (he left to work on harvey danger).
the ultimatum EP is just enough new material to make me long even more for a new album -- "the commander thinks aloud" is probably the best track. chilling subject matter, though, as it's about the space shuttle columbia.
when i pretend to fall was one of my top albums of 2003. the worst you can do is harm is also very good, but much darker.
I can send you my 'When I Pretend to Fall". I have it in my itunes, and that drive is backed up so I really don't need the actual disc.
