Selfish Fall Out Boy Fans

Chris and I have been enjoying ourselves ever since the secret FOB show was announced. Chris -to my bafflement- posted the announcement on their messageboard, which I thought was too nice of him...until the Fall Out Boy fans attacked him for fabricating the show. Turns out the fake moniker "Saved Latin" resembles another local band, "I Saved Latin." Not only that, but many fans had seen ISL... which is very very (very) odd, because I Saved Latin sounds absolutely nothing like anything FOB fans would like. It's electronic. It's even more strange that commentors at Brooklyn Vegan figured out the show, but their own fans did not.
A few days later, another person posted the announcement, and that guy got r-i-p-p-e-d apart by other fans. Read it here (worth it, trust me). In "FOB world" a secret show should NOT even be discussed on their messageboard. I think it's kinda fucked-up that fans wouldn't want other fans to know about it.
I tried to get Chris to go, but he refused. Chris has more at his site. I do have word that a couple other bloggers on my sidebar went. I won't name names, but maybe they'll review it.
And yes, I admit I have been scrolling the FOB messageboad. Don't look at me like that. Chris actually had to SIGN UP to their mailing list. There was also an entertaining thread from a girl about whether or not she is too young to attend one of their shows (she's 15). The girl wrote: "Is there any thing besides the language that is questionable? They dont do any thing bad do they?"
Uhhh... You mean other than sing and play guitar?

The irony of Fall Out Boy is that the band was started as a joke- the members (all from another band whose name escapes me now) were attempting to create an extremely radio-friendly sound as a comparative joke to this other band's hardcore sound, never intending that the tracks they'd recorded would ever get released. The fact that their fans are so serious makes the band's existence and success all the more hilarious.

If you read it -which Shannon didn't link to- then you would realize I was only directing people's attention to how vicious and cruel FOB fans can be. (Just read SummerHun's threatening comments in response to the secret show two weeks ago). Or as another more convenient example, look above:

We found the thread amusing (the one wear SummerHun repeatedly makes attacks in the Saved Latin thread) because we had assumed FOB fans don't normally make threats to others.
No offense to Shannon, but those comments were over the top and violent (for any age).

What's going to be particularly funny about this generation is that, come twenty years from now, they'll find everything they've ever posted cached and otherwise preserved for everyone to see. No one should have to deal with that sort of public embarrassment.

Things should really be taught in schools about the memory of the internet (well actually a lot about this internet) me thinks... I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who will suffer when web-life is taken more into account when applying for anything.
You just have to look at any page on YouTube to see this kind of baseless anger.
