Think About Life – Snowee Yeti
It was inevitable that I’d think about talking about Think About Life (website/myspace). That's them pictured randomly next to Gnarls Barkey for no reason whatsoever. They got my interest from the description Jeff gave them: “The Joggers meets Double Dragon II era Nintendo meets a lo-fi Wolf Parade.” On the whole it might not be as accessible as those artists -Double Dragon II sells out Radio City afterall- but they are doing some interesting dissections of this ever-crowding subgenre, and I’m liking their album. There are a couple tracks that aren’t quite fully realized, but more often then not when it works, it works. Think About Life – What the Future Might Be (mp3) (maybe my favorite track)
Think About Life – Paul Cries (mp3) (the internet’s favorite song)
Think About Life - Snowee Catepillar (mp3) (key lyric: “To Sasquatch and the snow I'm leaving!”)
Buy their album at any online outlet, including eMusic here. I’ll be excited to see them play with Art Brut and Art Brut 47 at the Knitting Factory May 17 and 18th. That bill is going to kill.

I knew I recognized this name from somewhere. They opened for Wolf Parade back in October. They were really, truly awful -- but some of that awfulness seemed to be the result of extenuating circumstances.
Am not sure I'm looking forward to the do-over.
Ahhhhh... I missed their set, which from the extenuating circumstances you describe, sounds like a good thing.
hopefully things will be in their favor this time around.
extenuating circumstances: Martin couldn't make it down on account of 99 problems but a bitch ain't one. Beaver was his substitute, and he broke more boards than slam dunks.
believe the hype!
I'm with J -- it was like watching a slow motion trainwreck on stage, lead by a 300 pound man.
So many of the blogs I read are talking about them like they're this great new discovery, and I have to do a double take: "wait, wasn't that the band I saw open for Wolf Parade?"
I have only read CV and YANP write about them myself, although I do notice them lighting up Elbo.ws a bit.
Not sure if they are "hype" worthy, but they have something to them that some will like.
I like their album artwork a lot too.
They're a fun band. I want to drink whiskey and eat tacos while dancing to them playing with Japanther. One day, my dream will come true.
