Spin.com Band of the Day: Driveshaft
Spin.com picked Driveshaft as it's band of the day. Pretty shitty mp3s for a band that "made it big," eh?
Driveshaft - You All Everybody (mp3) [wtf is this, a demo?]
Spin says:
DriveShaft are best known for their British hit, "You All Everybody," the anthemic, slow-burner from their debut that skyrocketed the band to international success and all the spoils. What the hell do the words "you all everybody" mean anyhow?

Isn't Driveshaft the "band" that Dominic Monaghan was in in the TV show Lost? I smell some product placement.
I just answered my own question. Go to the MySpace. It lists "Charlie" as having died in 2004. Product placement in Spin. Awesome. I'd say it's the last nail in the coffin of their journalistic integrity, but we're probably at least a decade late for that.
i'm willing to sacrifice journalistic integrity for Lost. best show ever.
you may be the only person in this world who doesnt watch Lost.
I think it's kind of funny, and doubt that ABC had anything to do with Spin's choice. They're likely just as excited as the rest of us for the new season.
While we're on the subject, since the recent change in leadership, I think Spin's improved. Yes, nowhere to go but up, but still, better than it was a year ago.
i think it's hilarious! probably more of a spoof than a marketing scheme
No, it's marketing. Lost was also yesterday's "featured entry" on Wikipedia. By the way, the season premiere is TONIGHT at 9/8 central!
I got three separate checks to add that last line.
in one of the special features on a dvd of the first season of Lost they explain that they got the lyrics for the song from watching some talk show like jerry springer or something. apparently there was some ignunt lady ranting and raving and she was yelling at someone and said "you all everybody, actin like you're stupid people wearing expensive clothes." and the writer dudes just thought it was sooooo funny and hence the only lyrics to the Driveshaft hit.
i think it's kinda funny that spin is writing about Driveshaft. that magazine sucks anyway, it's pretty pointless arguing over their artistic integrity or lack thereof.
My friend works for Spin and they did it as a joke because she got them all to start watching Lost and they inevitably caught the fever. It's just a joke and they know what people think of them, believe me.
I was going to post a clarification too, but didn't bother. I got word from my Spin friends that ABC had nothing to do with it. I figured fans of Lost would realize the folks at Spin are just big fans themselves
I finally watched the premiere. They should have had a two-hour kick off. 45 minutes didn't satiate my desire.
